We are firm believers that the best kind of Christmas celebration is a relaxed one, surrounded by your nearest and dearest.
However, even the host or hostess with the “mostess” knows that a lot goes into planning a beautiful Christmas day! From organising gifts, to coordinating guests, organising the table-setting and more!
In light of this, we’re sharing some of our favourite, easy-to-prepare festive foods to help you save time in the kitchen and still impress your guests (or hosts, if you’re bringing a dish to someone else’s home or event).
SIMPLE CHRISTMAS SALADS
1. Garlic Prawn Caprese Salad
This recipe isn’t just a fresh, tasty summer salad, it’s also beautiful, as it can easily be arranged in a Christmas wreath to set the tone on the table.
With only 7 ingredients, the combination of mozzarella, tomatoes and prawns is a classic one that you can easily scale the ingredients up or down to suit your group size.
To make things even more zesty, we love to finish the salad with a little of The Pudding Lady Caramelised White Balsamic Dressing, which has a subtle infusion of Passionfruit and Chilli. You can find it here.
Best of all? This salad will take you just ten minutes to make. Here’s the recipe.
2. Christmas Couscous Salad - Vegetarian
If you have only 15 minutes to spare, this couscous salad is a wonderful salad to whip up.
It not only adds a healthy option, but also a pop of colour (thanks to baby bell peppers stuffed with cream cheese) to the table. There are just two simple steps and you can find the full recipe here!
EASY ENTREES OR SIDES
3. Prosciutto Wrapped Baby Carrots
Carrots have never looked (or tasted) so good! All you need to do to recreate this lovely recipe is to wrap some Dutch baby carrots in thin slices of prosciutto, and let the oven do the rest of the work!
Finish them off with a maple glaze or drizzle a little of the award-winning, sweet yet tangy Pudding Lady Caramelised Balsamic Sauce over just before serving. It is available here and for the full recipe for this side, click here.
4. Potatoes with a Twist
Everyone loves a bit of mashed potato or some roasted potatoes next to barbequed meats or the coveted Christmas roast.
However, after years of the same, why not shake things up with this potato parmesan stack side. You will need a muffin tray/s, a few pantry staples and potatoes to create this crispy, golden side. Here’s the recipe!
SPEEDY CHRISTMAS TREAT/SNACK IDEAS
5. Christmas Rum Baubles
These bite size balls look super festive and are SO EASY to make! They take just 10 minutes and serve 24. That’s great news for smaller tables too, since everyone will want more than one! They also make cute treats – just wrap in cellophane and tie with a ribbon for neighbours, friends and family members! Recipe here.
6. Strawberry & Cream Santa’s
This party treat combines the classic combination of strawberry and cream with an appealing festive aesthetic. To make them even more delicious (if that’s possible), put a jar of Spoonable Chocolate Sauce on the table for guests to enjoy. The sauce is available here, and you can find the recipe here.
7. Watermelon Christmas Tree
All you need is a star cookie cutter to present this lovely fruit tree on the Christmas table. Leave as is, or, for extra pizazz, drizzle with a little olive oil, crumble over some feta and sprinkle with mint leaves and black pepper. It’s a delicious way to start or finish the day (or an in-between palette cleanser snack). Find out how to create it here.

For a Christmas day dessert, a rich, fruity and moist Christmas Cake is guaranteed to please. Best of all – it complements any meal you have served earlier, and tastes excellent with a cup of tea or a glass of ice cool festive punch.
